Hyundai have treated their popular Tucson to a number of updates including a new interior design, updated standard specification and exterior enhancements.
Since its launch in 2004, the Hyundai Tucson has found favour with South African buyers who have appreciated its quality, comfort, reliability and frugal fuel consumption, all qualities that have been bolstered with the latest update.
A refreshed exterior
The Hyundai Tucson’s sporty styling has been enhanced with subtle exterior upgrades. Upfront the Tucson features a new front bumper and skid plate as well as a redesigned grille that retains the Parametric Jewel Hidden Lights as well as new daytime running lights that feature LED illumination.
A harmonised side profile blends the front and rear ends seamlessly. At the rear, a new skid plate and bumper moulding are grouped together to accentuate the width of the rear end. The rear Hyundai badge has also been moved to the lower portion of the window glass.
The N Line derivative retains its unique styling, characterised by a blacked-out grille and gloss black mirror caps, unique N Line front and rear bumpers, N door sills, colour coded wheelarches, dual side exhaust outlets and 19-inch N Line alloy wheels.
Interior improvements
The biggest updates are to the interior where a redesigned dashboard adopts a wraparound architecture and a double layer form that continues into the front doors, enveloping the driver and front passenger.
All models now feature a new dual 12,3-inch infotainment system and digital driver information display. The controls for the air conditioning have been redesigned and the gear lever moves to the steering column, freeing up space for a large wireless charger.
Additional standard specification
Tucson 2.0 Premium AT models gain additional specification in the form of side repeaters in the mirrors, LED headlamps with static bending, blind spot detection, 18-inch alloy wheels, integrated infotainment and driver information displays and leather upholstery, which includes a leather steering wheel and gear lever.
Executive models are bolstered with push-button start, electric, heated and ventilated front seats and 19-inch alloy wheels. N-Line models gain a 10-speaker Bose sound system.
A rationalised model line up
The refreshed Hyundai Tucson range now includes the Hyundai Tucson 2.0 Premium AT, Hyundai Tucson R2.0D Executive AT as well as the Hyundai Tucson R2.0D V Line AWD T.
The 2.0 petrol engine fitted to the Premium is mated to a six-speed automatic and offers 115kW and 192Nm while using just 8,9 litres per 100km. The 2.0 litre turbodiesel that does duty in the Executive and N Line boasts 137kW and 416Nm with power transferred to the wheels via an eight-speed automatic.
